WordPress
The largest self-hosted blogging/website tool in the world, used on millions of sites and seen by tens of millions of people every day. Open source.

The nuts and bolts of Getting Started Online

1. It all starts with a good domain name. Get yours at Namecheap. I’ve used GoDaddy but decided to migrate all my domains to Namecheap. Contact me if you must know why.

2. Be sure your hosting company uses cPanel. I work with and recommend HostGator and Bluehost. If you buy your hosting through one of these links, I will install WordPress on your website for free. Just save the email HostGator or Bluehost sends you, and contact me at Support.

3. Build your community mailing list with AWeber. It costs $1 to try it for a month.

4. If you have a business, hobby, or organization and don’t have a Facebook Fan Page yet, check out this WordPress Theme. With it you can effortlessly create a Fan Page for your business, hobby, or organization. The Theme is called WP Fan Pro.

The nuts and bolts of Your Inner Game

1. Start meditating. Spend some quiet time alone each day. Close your eyes and count your breaths. Watch your mind. See how it works to distract you from what’s important in your life. And if you want some high-tech help getting started meditating, check out Holosync by Centerpointe. Get their free demo CD.

2. Get a coach or mentor. Join a Mastermind Group or start your own. Or come and find one at UnSeminar 9 in Austin, TX, July 15-17th 2011.

3. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather spend my time making money, not keeping track of it. If you live in Rochester NY or the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate NY, I recommend the expert accounting services of Patti A. Horigan and Balanced Bookkeeping. You can reach her at (315) 396-3352 or via email.

The nuts and bolts of Your Nuts and Bolts

1. Stop spending your money on expensive office software. Get yourself a copy of OpenOffice. Work on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other office documents. And you can save your work as a PDF, so you can share it with everyone (PC, Mac, Linux, etc.). Did I mention that it’s free?

2. Check out Portable Apps. It’s a collection of small, lightweight, and completely portable software that you can carry with you on a thumb drive. There are portable versions of popular programs like Firefox, OpenOffice, and oh so much more. And it’s all free!

3. And if you want to generate a PDF with a program besides OpenOffice, get CutePDF Writer. It works like a printer (print driver) on your computer. There are two files there you will need to install. CutePDF Writer and the Free Converter.
